The agent of former Queens Park Rangers forward Adel Taarabt has told the Italian media he hopes to get a big move for his client in the summer.

Taarabt spent six seasons at Loftus Road before joining Benfica on a permanent transfer in 2015. The Lisbon club quick soon grew ged up of Taarabt’s application not matching his ego and shipped out on loan.

In recent weeks Taarabt has spoken about his discovery that hard work is needed in football, making it sound like he’s gone through something of an epiphany.

As well as not working hard enough in training, Taarabt accepted he went out too much, and then there was the mental trauma after returning to QPR from AC Milan: “When you have played in Milan, having to play in a less prestigious club is a mental issue.

“That experience struck me mentally. for the Rossonero I did well, I wanted to stay, we were on the point of signing. Then came Inzaghi who made other choices. Returning to the QPR, after playing in the Champions League, with champions like Kaka, it hurt me.”

But, in good form at Genoa, everything is now different, insisted Taarabt. Gone are the bad days of the big ego and waistline, and Taarabt is very much a team player, feet on the ground, head out of the clouds, totally committed to a great Genoa season and not getting carried away with the briefest of good runs.

His agent suggests otherwise.

Speaking to TMW, Ludovic Fattizzo was asked about the future of Taarabt: “The person has changed, he’s realised that he has made a lot of mistakes in the past and he’s been able to exploit the great opportunity that Genoa has given him.

“He’s lost several pounds but now, after so much work, sweat is sacrifice, is again ready for the big football In England we will not be back, this is sure, but I promised to help him find him a great team for not season. Not in January, but I mean in the next campaign.”

Genoa have helped to kickstart Taarabt’s career after taking him on loan from Benfica, but it seems the player and his agent already have their eye on a bigger deal, after a short run of good form.

Rather than already looking at the next big contract, if Taarabt and his agent had learned anything then surely they’d be keen to go at least get two thirds of the way through the season before talking about great teams and big football for next season.

The former QPR player has rarely played since leaving the West London club in 2015, and after just 15 league games for the Serie A side, Fattizzo is already talking up another move for Taarabt.
