Memphis Depay isn’t exactly having the most explosive period at Lyon right now.
He got an assist in his last game, a 1-0 victory over Amiens in Ligue 1, but hasn’t scored for his club since November 10th.
That was in an excellent performance against Guingamp, when the Dutchman scored two and assisted two in a 4-2 victory. His next appearance was for the Netherlands against France, and he again put in a very good performance, and scored a goal in a 2-0 victory.
Memphis signed for Lyon in the January 2017 transfer window, having failed to find an important place in Jose Mourinho’s squad at Old Trafford. Manchester United are thought to have a clause which enables them to buy the attacker back should someone else submit an offer.
The 24 year old was quoted as saying: “Lyon is a big club, but not one of the five best in Europe, I want to go to a club like Real Madrid, Barcelona, Chelsea, Manchester City, Paris Saint-Germain or Bayern Munich… I want to go to a city that suits me and a club that suits me, to a team that really wants to play football.”
There’s no suggestion right now that any of those sides are interested, and Memphis must know he needs to display better form on a more consistent basis.
