Former Manchester United coach René Meulensteen has told the Dutch media Memphis Depay needs to change his ways for the sake of his football career. Depay has hardly figured since Jose Mourinho was installed as the Manchester United manager, and there has been recent speculation the winger could leave in the new year.

Speaking to Telesport, Meulensteen was asked about the situation with Depay, and the problems the youngster has encountered this season. The Dutchman believes the Manchester United star is at a stage in his career where he must realise he needs to concentrate on his football.

Meulensteen thinks if Depay doesn’t change his attitude then these problems will follow him with every club he plays for in the future.

“He has to realise that if he wants to make the most of his career, then football should be the only thing. If he can’t, he will join a new club with the same problems,” said the former Manchester United assistant.

Depay has seen himself frozen out by Mourinho in this campaign with several attackers ahead of him in the pecking order. There have been recent rumours linking the former PSV player to Everton, whilst today we covered reports from Turkey that Depay could be keen on a move to Fenerbahce.
