Former Liverpool star Xabi Alonso has been speaking to Spanish newspaper Marca ahead of Bayern Munich’s Champions League match against Atletico Madrid.
The two times Champions League winner was asked who he thinks could be Bayern Munich’s strongest rivals in the European competition.
Like his coach Carlo Ancelotti, Alonso insists Manchester City are ones to watch from England. He said: “Well, I’ll not be very original. Spanish sides, Juventus and Manchester City.”
The 34-year-old has played under some of the best managers in the world, including Jose Mourinho, Pep Guardiola and now with Carlo Ancelotti.
Asked about their style of play, to which he replied: “Surely, all three are different, but all have their pluses that I admire a lot and when I get time off from work I try to analyse what I would do as a coach.
The Spaniard has played for some of the biggest clubs in the world, and is now entering the final stage of his career, but is still likely to add to his collection this season.
