Former Liverpool midfielder João Carlos Teixeira is set to join Brighton & Hove Albion on a six-month loan, according to Portugal’s Zero Zero. Chris Hughton may well be looking to make additions to bolster Brighton’s push for promotion from the Championship.
The player has been at Porto since he left the Reds last summer, having signed a four-year deal with the Portuguese side.
But he’s failed to impress in his home land, having played for only 15 minutes in a cup match this season. Needing more time on the pitch, a move would appear to make sense.
Teixeira is now set to move to Brighton in January on a loan until the end of the current season, with the Championship side having no option to buy.
The 23-year-old already had a season-long spell at Brighton during the 2014/15 season. He made 35 appearances, scored five goals and contributed four assists for the club.
Zero Zero claims that some other Portuguese clubs, including Rio Ave, were also interested in having the player on loan, but Brighton ended up winning the race.
