We’re not sure what Leed United’s budget will be next summer, but with the club currently languishing in the middle of the Championship, money might need to be spent in order to help the team achieve its dream of returning to the Premier League.
Last summer looked to have done the trick, after splashing out around a big amount on incomings, followed by a strong start to the season, with Thomas Christiansen’s side going seven games unbeaten.
However, things started going downhill soon after, and the club has started slowly drifting down the table, currently sitting 14th, with eight games to go.
Before thinking about how much money will need to be invested in the squad by Andrea Radrizzani, he’ll have to see how his club finishes the season, but if he decides to pump a bit more cash to achieve his goal of getting the club back to the top tier within the next five years, there’s one man who could be open to a move if they pay well.
That man is Anthony Limbombe, an old Leeds United target from a few years ago, who recently earned his way into Roberto Martinez’s Belgium squad thanks to impressive recent performances.
Speaking to DH during his first day with the national team, the 23-year-old also discussed his future, and opened the door to a move in the summer.
He said: “I’m very happy at Bruges, but I want to progress. I’ll be 24 in the summer. If I have the chance, I’ll look into a transfer.”
Now, we’re not saying Leeds are still interested, as nothing has pointed to that being the case lately.
What we are saying is that there’s a chance to get a young player determined to prove himself in a higher standard of league, and the opportunity for an instant impact with a view to a profit later on.
With six goals and seven assists from the left wing this season, the winger has the ability to be a game changer.
As for how much he’d cost, you’d probably be looking at the £10m range.
Yes, we know that’s quite a lot, but, as Wolverhampton have shown, sometimes you have to spend big on a player to get the results you want.
That, and someone to get the best out of the players in the squad.
