Former Italy star Emanuele Giaccherini has backed Antonio Conte to get Tottenham’s Harry Kane scoring goals again, just like he did with Romelu Lukaku.
Conte was confirmed as the new Tottenham boss on Tuesday following Nuno Espirito Santo’s firing on Monday.
One of his major tasks, aside from getting Tottenham competing again, will be helping Harry Kane to rediscover his form, which has been sorely missing so far this season.
The Spurs captain has been in poor form for Tottenham, with just one goal in nine Premier League games to his name.
His tally elsewhere has been decent enough, with three In three in the Conference League, a goal in the EFL Cup and two in Conference League qualifiers earlier this season.
It’s his Premier League form that needs to be turned around, especially considering he had seven league goals to his name after nine games last season.
Giaccherini has no doubts the goals will start flowing, though, likening Kane to Lukaku, who managed 64 goals in 95 games under the Italian.
“He improves you both as a player and as a man because he looks at both the human and the professional side; he’s one who pays a lot of attention to detail,” he told DAZN, relayed by Tuttomercatoweb.
“He makes everyone improve, he made Lukaku improve, and he will also be able to improve Harry Kane.
“To make you understand how much he cares about detail, before the European Championship we were playing against Scotland in Malta in a friendly, and I had the same opportunity that then led to the goal against Belgium.
“I got two balls, and I tried to shoot, without trying to block, and I did not score: the next day, he told me that a great player stops those balls, then whether he scores or not does not matter.
“When a similar opportunity came to me, on Bonucci’s throw, those words stayed in my head.”
