José Mourinho might be taking something resembling a battering from the European press since the defeat against Watford at the weekend, but there are still many who retain their faith in the Portuguese manager.

Funnily enough, the vast majority of these happen to be players who have played under him in the past, meaning they know exactly what he is like in these situations.

The latest of these is Diego Milito, interviewed by Gazzetta dello Sport, who was asked about his former manager at Inter Milan during his time in charge of the Serie A club between 2008-2010.

He said: “Mourinho remains unique. Who else would have convinced Eto’o to play down the wing? At the moment, Ibra and him are suffering at Manchester United, but I’m sure they will fight for the Premier League.”

Despite a strong start with three wins in three games from José Mourinho’s new side, the Manchester derby defeat was followed by two losses against Feyenoord in the Europa League and Giuseppe Mazzarri’s side at Vicarage Road.

The Special One will be hoping for a response from his team against Northampton Town in the EFL Cup on Wednesday, as the Red Devils travel to Sixfields Stadium on Wednesday night.
