According to Aksam, Besiktas captain Oguzhan Ozyakup’s hasn’t extended his contract with the Turkish champions because of reported interest from his former club Arsenal.

Ozyakup has previously been linked with a move to to the Premier League, and along with Arsenal fellow London clubs West Ham United and Tottenham Hotspur have been showing an interest.

Aksam say Ozyakup wants to leave the club on good terms, after being a key player in their back to back title wins. He’s ‘seriously considering’ a potential return to Arsenal, and the whole transfer situation is overtaking his thoughts.

The 24 year old has just entered into the final six months of his contract, and Besiktas were confident they could tie him down.

The Turkish media outlet report Ozyakup has received other offers from across Europe, but a return to Arsenal is the most tempting for the Turkish international.

Ozyakup came through the Arsenal academy, but played just a handful of games for the Premier League side before his move to Istanbul.
