Shakhtar Donetsk winger Bernard is not renewing his contract with the club, and will be free to leave the Ukranian side at the end of the season, according to reports from Brazil.

Globo Esporte claims the player feels this is the end of his cycle at the club, where he spent five years, having joined them in 2013.

With Bernard’s future open, there are plenty of possibilities for him, including a return to Brazil. But the website claims that conversations with clubs from England, Italy and China are also on.

Globo Esporte doesn’t say which Premier League side would like to land the player, so we had to have a little dig to see who could be on the line for him.

Back at the end of last year, UOL claimed that people around the player had approaches from Arsenal, Chelsea and Liverpool.

And back in 2015, quite a while ago, it was Everton who were being liked to the Brazilian, even though he was seen as a pretty difficult signing at the time.

The truth is that at the age of 25, Bernard is still to show he can be a truly top player, so it’s quite unlikely to think of him joining Arsenal, Chelsea and Liverpool.

Regarding Everton’s interest, Bernard was reported as a target for Roberto Martinez at the time. So in case the club continued scouting the player until an opportunity comes, then there’s a possibility. Otherwise, the interest may have faded when the manager was sacked in 2016.
