Joe Royle believes Everton have a chance of winning silverware this season despite a poor run of form. Ronald Koeman’s side have struggled in recent weeks after an impressive start to the season.

Speaking to Sky Sports News, Royle was asked about Everton’s recent form and whether Koeman can turns things around. The former Everton manager believes the Merseyside club have been good this season, and it’s just in recent weeks they’ve failed to get the results they were expecting.

However, the 67-year-old thinks Everton are well placed in the league table, and that they still have a chance to win a cup this season. Royle also believes Koeman will bring in players in the next transfer window to strengthen his squad to meet his objectives.

“I think they’ve made a fair start, the last two weeks haven’t been good after a terrific start, but they are in 7th position. I wouldn’t rule us out for a cup this year. I think he (Koeman) will be lining up players in the new year,” said Royle.

Everton haven’t won in their last two Premier League games, including a 5-0 demolition at the hands of Chelsea. Koeman’s team needed a last-minute goal to earn a draw against Swansea City last weekend and now face a difficult trip to Southampton on Sunday.
