Former Crystal Palace manager Frank de Boer has confirmed to the Dutch media he would give thought to taking the vacant Netherlands job if approached.

De Boer was sacked by Crystal Palace in September, despite only be installed as the Premier League side’s manager last summer.

The 47 year old was previously an assistant with the national team under Bert van Marwijk.

De Telegraaf have reported on comments De Boer made to Dutch TV channel Ziggo Sports, when quizzed about whether he’d manage his country: “I want to think about it. I like to be on the pitch and I prefer to work with a group of players every day, as a national coach, that is not the case, so I have to think about that.”

De Boer was sacked after just five Premier League games in charge at Crystal Palace, just 77 days into his reign at Selhurst Park. The Eagles lost all five league games whilst the Dutchman was at the club, scoring no goals.

The former Netherlands international was eventually replaced by Roy Hodgson, and despite a shaky start Crystal Palace are finally picking up points, including three against Stoke City last weekend.
