Former Barcelona star Ronald de Boer has questioned ADO Den Haag defender Tom Beugelsdijk following his side’s loss to Ajax earlier in the month. Beugelsdijk has been linked with a move to Leeds United, and recent stated he would be interested in a move to England.
Voetbal Premieur have reported on comments De Boer made when speaking about poor defending in the Dutch league. The former Netherlands international believes he’s seen bad defending this season, and a good example was Beugelsdijk against Ajax. De Boer said players were able to get away from the central defender because it was too easy to turn on him.
“When you see this kind of defence in the Netherlands… we’ve already seen Beugelsdijk last weekend. It looks so simple how you can turn away from him,” said the former Barcelona midfielder.
Leeds United were looking to move in on Beugelsdijk in the summer, but a deal never materialised. Leeds United manager Monk had sent scouts to get the lowdown on the player and was impressed by his physical presence. The player also recently said he would be interested in a move to England if he was leave ADO Den Haag.
ADO Den Haag’s coach Zeljko Petrovic confirmed Leeds United’s interest in the defender, but was keen to keep hold of him.
