Yesterday we brought you an update on the future of Leicester City striker Islam Slimani, with Monaco chasing the Algerian international.

France Football covered the Ligue 1 side’s interest and claimed that a move was on the cards while Nice-Matin said it would be a loan deal.

Indeed, it seemed the whole deal was close to completion, and there was a suggestion it would be finalised last night.

That never happened but L’Equipe have covered the situation today and provided the details on the transfer.

The newspaper says that the deal should be finalised today and will see Slimani swap Leicester for Monaco on an initial loan deal, which includes an option to buy.

Slimani has been an option for Monaco for several months with Monaco boss Leonardo Jardim having explicitly asked for his signing, having worked with Slimani at Sporting Lisbon.

The striker managed ten goals in 30 games during their time together in Portugal, and Jardim plans to link him up with Radamel Falcao in a 4-4-2.
