Tottenham Hotspur advancing to sign Pedro Porro has seen Barcelona and Atlético Madrid ask for information about the Sporting star.
That’s according to Record, who state the ‘formalisation of interest’ from Spurs has set off alarm bells at Sporting and the two La Liga sides.
Both Barca and Atlético are following the progress of negotiations with Spurs because they intend to submit an offer to sign the Spaniard at the end of this season.
Tottenham are keen to secure the right-back’s services in the winter market and the Eagles continue to refer his €45m release clause.
Antonio Conte’s side are evaluating the possibility of presenting a proposal that fits the requirements of the Portuguese club. It is precisely for this reason the Catalan club and Diego Simeone’s side decided to ‘enter’ the scene for Porro.
Barcelona and Atlético have made informal contacts with his agent and asked to be kept informed if Sporting were to receive an offer that satisfies them. If that happens, it will benefit the player and his current club.
Although the situation is still open, the most likely outcome is for the fullback to finish the season at Sporting. If Tottenham fail to take Porro in January, they will not give up.
Spurs could be joined by the two Spanish clubs when chasing Porro next summer.
