Ahead of Liverpool’s clash against Red Star at Anfield, B92 in Serbia decided to have a chat with an Associated Press photographer in order to get an idea of what the fans and the players can expect from playing in the mythical stadium.

Lindzi Parnabi has followed all of the big Premier League teams around Europe, but according to him, none of them come close to the Reds’ arena: “I’ve followed Manchester United, Chelsea, Everton, everyone – and nothing is like Anfield.”

As he puts it: “I come here often and everything is new, it’s a modern stadium, the atmosphere is fantastic. You see all the fans, the flags, everything. I come here and I enjoy it”.

Reserving specific praise for the Anfield faithful, Parnabi describes them as ‘special’ because they’re ‘always behind the team’, ‘always there’ whenever Liverpool plays, even if the result doesn’t end up being what they were hoping for.

However, the photographer recommends to anyone visiting and wanting to enjoy the best atmosphere possible to do so later on in the campaign, when results are even more crucial.

He said: “It’s best at the end of the season, when they have an important match. You see the manager, Klopp, he’s good, energetic and glorious, and the players love him. I think he’s the best coach in the league”.

Having lost their last Champions League game against Napoli, Liverpool are in need of a good result, especially if Paris Saint-Germain manage to beat Napoli in Paris on Wednesday evening.

While many see this as a relatively easy game, anything can happen in European football, so they’ll still be needing their 12th man. Perhaps not at his very best, but it will help if he’s in decent form.
