On Monday, an article appeared on the Sun’s website claiming that Leicester City’s Riyad Mahrez wanted to leave King Power Stadium as early as January to play for a bigger club.
This came off the back of a comprehensive Daily Mail interview where the Algeria international revealed exactly what happened over the summer, and discussed his failed move to Arsenal among other things.
Within that article, the Sun also claimed the Leicester City star had recently changed agents, joining the same firm as Philippe Coutinho and Willian.
Well, according to Le Buteur, that isn’t the case in the slightest.
How do they know? They rang Mahrez’s current agent, Kamel Bengougam, who went out of his way to put the record straight.
He said: “Honestly, I have no idea where they got that information from. I can tell you I’m still Riyad’s agent and he has never hired anyone else.”
As Mahrez himself explained, the failed transfer this summer had nothing to do with his agent, but Leicester City themselves ‘blocking things in the background’, so why would he change representative?
So far this season, Riyad Mahrez has scored three goals and picked up five assists in 15 league appearances.
