Arsenal starlet Gabriel Martinelli discussed his future at the club in an interview with ESPN Brasil this week.
Speaking to reporter João Castelo Branco, the 19-year-old talked about the big aspirations he has with the London side and his hard work to become an idol at the club.
Being currently part of Arsenal’s talented young generation, the striker praised some of his teammates, claiming he’s looking forward to shine for the club by their side.
“We have a lot of good players, Eddie, Emile, Saka, Joe, Reiss. Saka and Emile are playing more, they are two incredible players, who have a bright future ahead of them and who will help us a lot here. I hope to achieve a lot with them for Arsenal and make the fans very happy”, Gabriel Martinelli told ESPN Brasil.
Now there’s also someone to look up to, and that’s Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang. Even though the Gabonese star is the one holding his centre-forward position, Martinelli claims his teammate is the kind of idol he wants to be at the club.
“I try to work every day, hard. Of course, Auba is an incredible player. Not just a player, an incredible person. It’s a pleasure to have him in the team. He’s a guy who plays in my position. I can look at him every day and try to learn as much as possible.”
“I certainly hope to be playing in the near future. And follow in his footsteps, he’s captain of the team, wearing shirt 14, which is a symbol of the club. I hope to have a bright future ahead at Arsenal.”
Last year, several reports pointed out that the Italian national team were keeping an eye on the youngster, who never ruled out playing for them. However, now asked about his biggest dreams in football, Martinelli claims he actually wants to play for Brazil.
“Now, get back to playing more. But surely in the future to win the Champions League, to win the World Cup and the Premier League with Arsenal. The World Cup with Brazil. My dream is to play for the Brazilian national team.”
