The subject of many debates over the course of the summer, James Rodriguez’s future is, for now, still at Real Madrid.
With the Spanish club facing a potential two transfer window ban, the Champions League winners are keen to keep their squad as strong as possible, and the Colombian star gives them plenty of strength in depth.
A transfer over the summer could have apparently happened, but Real Madrid seemed against that, and the player said he was happy to stay and fight at his current club.
However, Diario Gol in Spain have suggested over the weekend the player could be sold in January, and five potential candidates are already waiting in line just in case.
The Spanish website claim Manchester United, Tottenham, Paris Saint-Germain, Monaco and Arsenal are all interested and could make an offer in January.
Monaco’s inclusion certainly seems rather dubious, considering their restructured project, and resigning James would go against everything they’ve tried to set up over the last year or so.
Regardless of this, Diario Gol say James’ preferred destination would be José Mourinho’s Manchester United, recommended by the one and only Jorge Mendes.
If a club were to put €50-60m on the table come the winter, Real Madrid could seriously think about it.
We’ll believe it when we see it.
