With Edinson Cavani set to leave Manchester United as a free agent after this season, the Red Devils will have to bring in a new No.9 in the summer window.
Among the strikers linked to the Premier League side is Napoli star Victor Osimhen, who has 17 goals and six assists from 30 matches in all competitions this season.
On Thursday, Osimhen’s friend Oma Akatugba said that Manchester United and Newcastle United have made offers for the striker. However, their proposals have not convinced the Italian club’s chairman, Aurelio De Laurentiis.
Area Napoli backs Akatugba’s claims as they explain the Old Trafford club’s proposal was ‘considered too low’ by the Serie A side.
They further add Manchester United would like to ‘relaunch’ by trying to put money and Anthony Martial on the table. The French forward, who is currently on loan at Sevilla, is valued at €30m.
Martial’s intention is to continue in La Liga, even though his time there has been ‘fruitless’. Sevilla, for their part, don’t plan to keep the Frenchman beyond his loan deal. Manchester United are anticipating this situation and plan to ‘act in advance’, by including the 26-year-old as part of the deal, to permanently cut ties with him.
At Napoli, the Manchester United owned player is of ‘little interest’ to them, considering his poor form and ‘generous salary’.
To sum it up, the English club are ‘ready to give him away’ to lower Osimhen’s price tag. However, including Martial as a part of the deal has not been entertained by Napoli.
