Last weekend, Nicolò Zaniolo came off the bench and scored a goal to help Aston Villa get a point against West Ham United. If anyone thought that would end the claims around his future, they were very mistaken.
Unai Emery’s side took the winger on loan with a conditional obligation to buy from Galatasaray last summer. The 23-year-old has clocked in over 1000 minutes from 31 games for the Villans and has been reduced to a substitute role this year.
Recent claims have stated Aston Villa aren’t planning to retain the former AS Roma man beyond this season and he’s been linked with a return to Serie A.
Former Italian footballer Davide Moscardelli has been speaking to TV Play and has urged the Aston Villa man to join a club where he can have a prominent role next season.
“Can Zaniolo go back to what he once was? Before the injuries, Zaniolo was really strong. He’s not finding continuity at Aston Villa either, he has to find a team that will always let him play,” he said.
“His role? I see him as a winger, he needs both the wing and the pitch. Spalletti wants to understand whether to focus on Zaniolo for the Euros, while he already knows that he will be able to count on El Shaarawy.”
Fiorentina, Juventus, Napoli, AC Milan and Lazio have been named as interested parties. Two days ago, TV Play reported the Biancocelesti have already made contact with Zaniolo over a potential deal in the summer.
They also stated Lazio chairman Claudio Lotito is a great admirer of the Italy international and wants to bring him back to Rome.
When asked about the possibility of the Aston Villa attacker joining Lazio, Moscardelli explained: “I would see Zaniolo well in all Italian teams. Even at Lazio? It depends on how he will be received, but his first objective is to find the right environment.”
