Earlier this week, we covered claims from Portugal saying that Sporting had a long list of managers who could replace José Peseiro at the club. And one of the candidates would be Everton’s Marco Silva.
But now it turns out that another manager in England could be taking the job, and that’s Aitor Karanka from Nottingham Forest, at least according to the claims.
Italian website Calcio Mercato comes up with an exclusive saying that Sporting have already made the first contacts for the manager, and are now evaluating the possibility of signing him.
The outlet claims that Sporting are not the only club who are interested in the Spaniard, as Russian side Spartak Moscow are also following him after sacking Massimo Carrera recently.
Signed by Nottingham Forest in January 2018, Karanka has a contract with the Championship club until 2020. From the Portuguese news we cover here, it’s rare for managers to leave England to move to Portugal, and that should be the case, especially with Forest in the fight for promotion this season.
