On June 11th, we carried a report from Sport, who explained Manchester United had contacted Barcelona to ask about Ivan Rakitic.
The same newspaper says it then went quiet.
However, in the past few hours, United made another approach, and have shown a real desire to land the midfielder.
Sport call it a ‘really serious approach’.
It’s claimed Manchester United had already tabled a €35m offer, which was deemed too low by the La Liga winners as they will not accept any proposals less than €50m.
Sport claim the ‘Rakitic operation’ has now reopened and Solskjaer’s side appear as the ‘main candidate’ for his signature. This time, United have communicated their ‘firm determination’ to reach an agreement for the 31-year-old.
Even though Rakitic has expressed his desire to stay at the Camp Nou, the proposal from Manchester United could be tempting.
These claims from Sport sound pretty serious, more serious than previous Rakitic to United stories.
