After selling Ogenyi Onazi to Birmingham City for a reported €4.5m (a deal considered done in Turkey, but not confirmed by Birmingham), Trabzonspor have turned their attention to Tottenham Hotspur’s Moussa Sissoko, claim Fanatik.
The Turkish club are looking to use the Onazi money for Sissoko, and manager Ersun Yanal also told the club board signing the Tottenham player will be fantastic business for Trabzonspor ahead of next season.
Any deal will be on a loan basis, with the fee for Onazi covering what Tottenham will ask for the temporary transfer.
Ersun Yanal has encouraged Trabzonspor board to use the Onazi money on Sissoko, and it’s already been reported that talks with both Tottenham and the player have been ongoing.
Sissoko is said to be keen on the move to Turkey, and having spent the summer looking for an exit route from Tottenham, Trabzonspor may now be a more attractive option than it was earlier.
Mauricio Pochettino made his displeasure with Sissoko clear last season, and an exit for the midfielder has looked likely for some time. The only surprise is that we’re now almost in mid August and the Frenchman remains.
With the World Cup on the horizon, Sissoko knows he needs regular playing time. He’d certainly get that at Trabzonspor, but there’s every chance the midfielder will hold the Turkish club off, waiting for other options.
