David De Gea hasn’t had a club since his Manchester United contract expired at the end of June 2023. Prior to his deal at Old Trafford coming to an end, it didn’t feel like there was a queue of clubs waiting to sign him up.
The Spaniard had dropped out of national team contention and was on a huge contract at Manchester United, and it was largely felt that the goalkeeper wouldn’t be worth the salary outlay required.
Since then De Gea has been occasionally popping up on social media, and publishing pictures with old Manchester United teammates, yet he hasn’t seemed any closer to getting an actual club.
With regards to wages, his claims can’t be anywhere near what they may have been a year ago, and that allows more clubs to come into the picture.
Estadio Deportivo report that’s the case with Real Betis, who are seriously considering De Gea to be their goalkeeper next season.
Claudio Bravo is expected to return to Chile and Rui Silva could also leave, linked with several clubs recently.
The report adds that Betis were keen last year but De Gea ‘demanded an astronomical salary’, it’s felt things will now be different… so they’re going to contact him again.
