Since Thursday the Fousseni Diabaté to Leicester City rumour has been growing in the French media, to the point that it’s now considered pretty much agreed.

Friday saw French claims that Leicester were very close indeed to agreeing a deal with Ajaccio to sign the flexible forward. Southampton had been linked to the player too, which suggests Leicester interest in Fousseni Diabaté is being driven by their manager Claude Puel.

At 22 years of age, Diabaté has been playing in France’s second tier, and it’s unlikely he’s of interest to Leicester to make an immediate impact, seen more as one for the future.

Saturday’s edition of L’Equipe has a snippet on Diabaté to Leicester City tucked in on page 16. It’s small, but claims the ‘final details’ of a move are being sorted out and Diabaté is expected to fly to England on Monday and then have a medical before completing his move to Leicester.

L’Equipe believe Leicester City are set to pay €3.5-5m for the player, plus bonuses.
