Whilst there’s calm at Sevilla over the Diego Carlos situation, there’s still an acknowledgement that Newcastle United could return with a huge offer in the final days of the market, an offer that could be too big to refuse.
Marca bring a new update on Monday lunchtime, and say Sevilla are awaiting the ‘final bomb’ from the Premier League club, in reference to a huge offer for the Brazilian central defender.
Newcastle are said to have put a contract for four and a half years on the table, and Carlos would earn more than double what he does now in Spain. That’s encouraged the player and his agents to be tempted, and Marca say that’s partly because Carlos doesn’t want to miss the chance of cashing in with the Magpies.
Sevilla are trying to convince their player that it’s best to wait until the summer window, however, the 28-year-old feels Newcastle will sign a central defender this month, whether that’s him or someone else.
He doesn’t want to ‘miss the train’, although he’s not yet causing trouble at Sevilla.
Marca say they’ve learned that Newcastle won’t give up and are set to launch a final offensive to try and get a deal done. They believe that could be a deal which would start at €50m, and it’s stated the offer ‘would reach €55m’ with bonus payments.
Such an amount could tempt Sevilla, but Eddie Howe’s side need to actually offer it first.
