Argentine outlet Infobae today brings a long interview with Matías Godoy. The 17-year-old striker, who plays for Atletico Rafaela, has been impressing for the national team’s youth ranks.

And it turns out that one of the questions was about a move to the Premier League. The website mentioned that Godoy has been followed by Chelsea, and asked him how he feels about that.

“One is filled with pride. With my family we made a very big sacrifice to get here, and that Chelsea follow you moves you a little,” Matías Godoy told Infobae.

“I take it in the best way, quiet, working. Already being in the national team is a great pride. Since childhood, one dreams of this, especially coming from Rafaela, a team that fights in the second division.”

Chelsea’s interest in Godoy had been claimed by local outlet La Opinion back in February. It’s been said that a group of agents would like to buy him for about US$1m and Stamford Bridge could be the destination.

At first, it really sounds unlikely that Chelsea would sign a kid directly from a small Argentine club, especially because they’re currently playing in the second division.

However, the teenager is a regular in Argentina’s U17 national team, and has been having a good World Cup, where he scored in the past two games.

These tournaments attract a lot of scouts from all over the world, and that’s why he would’t be too sceptical about a potential interest.
