Manchester United have identified Ajax star Antony as one of their targets in the summer transfer window.
On July 5th, Goal Brasil reported the Red Devils tried to advance for a €60m deal. It was also explained the winger and his camp dream of making a switch to Old Trafford this summer.
Erik ten Hag knows the 25-year-old well as the current United boss managed him for the 18 months at the Amsterdam club.
Thursday’s edition of De Telegraaf relay the claim made elsewhere of the Premier League side making a €60m offer for the Brazil international.
They state this claim is ‘not [yet] correct’, but the newspaper adds the situation could ‘erupt’ if United were to submit a proposal. When they use the word ‘erupt’, there appears to be a suggestion they feel things could get agitated.
Ajax have an advantage with the player’s current situation. He has been on the sidelines since the end of March with an injury and is yet to regain full fitness. In addition to this, they have put a ‘fictitious’ price tag of €80m on Antony.
De Telegraaf stat the Eredivisie winners have done this to indicate the wideman is not for sale this summer. They clearly don’t feel €80m represents his actual worth.
Antony dreams of making a switch to United, but the ‘fictitious’ €80m price tag could see Ten Hag and his side walk away from the South American.
