Fenerbahce have been in contact with Aston Villa to discuss the conditions of a move for Diego Carlos this month.
That’s according to Ertan Süzgün, who reports that Fenerbahce want to make at least two additions to their defence this summer and have spoken to Aston Villa about Carlos.
The Brazilian defender has been linked with a move away from Villa Park over the last few months after struggling to establish himself in the side under Unai Emery this season.
A potential return to former club Sevilla had been mooted but it appears it is Fenerbahce who have made the first moves.
“Fenerbahçe, who is planning to make at least 2 transfers to the defense line, received information about the conditions of Diego Carlos, who plays for Aston Villa,” Süzgün reported.
The question is whether Aston Villa would sanction a move at this moment in time given Pau Torres is currently out injured.
That leaves Emery with just Ezri Konsa, Tyrone Mings and Lamare Bogarde and Carlos as his central defensive options given Kortney Hause is also out injured as well.
They’d likely need to add another central defender to their squad before sanctioning a departure for Carlos, if the 31-year-old would like to make the move to Turkey of course.
