In the winter transfer market, Chelsea agreed a deal with Borussia Dortmund for Christian Pulisic and the Blues then allowed the winger to stay at the Bundesliga club on loan until the end of the season.
In the past, the winger had admitted that he is a ‘big fan’ of Manchester United, but he decided to join the Europa League semi-finalists, and there didn’t seem to be an effort from Old Trafford.
The 20-year-old has sat down for an interview with Ruhr Nachrichten and during the course of the chat, the winger was asked why he agreed to join the west London club.
“It felt right now. There used to be only the Premier League for me earlier. I watched them on TV. I saw Chelsea’s games with Frank Lampard. The five years here [at Dortmund] have been the best of my life, but it’s still the right step [to join Chelsea],” Pulisic explained.
The clash against Fortuna Düsseldorf will be Pulisic’s final game at Signal Iduna Park before he makes the switch to Stamford Bridge.
If Maurizio Sarri’s side decide to sanction Eden Hazard’s sale in the summer, the American forward can replace the Belgian at Chelsea next season.
Hazard, whose contract with the English side expires in 2020, has been heavily linked with a move to Real Madrid.
