Ayoze Perez left Leicester City in the 2023 winter transfer window, just months before his Foxes deal came to an end.
He moved to Real Betis on loan until the summer, and then was signed on a permanent contract by the Sevilla club.
It sealed the player’s return to Spain after he’d spent much of his career in England speaking about it. Routinely throughout his time with Newcastle United, Perez would speak to the Spanish media and talk up the prospect of a move to La Liga.
That didn’t happen and when it came time to leave the Magpies, he instead headed to Leicester City.
It would appear he didn’t feel fully valued there, at least towards the end of his time with the club, and the move to Betis was like a breath of fresh air for the versatile attacker.
Speaking to AS, he’s been asked about Isco signing for Betis and how well it’s helped the former Real Madrid player.
Perez thought he was able to relate: “It happened to me a bit the same, that’s why I stayed. I felt happy again playing football, I felt like a footballer again and that is priceless. I understand Isco perfectly.”
