Felipe Avenatti: Potential cheap Leeds United signing

Ternana forward Felipe Avenatti is edging closer to being able to sign a pre-contract agreement with another club. The player’s contract expires at the end of June next year, and the longer there’s no renewal the more likely a transfer becomes.

The Uruguayan forward has just six months left on his current deal with the Serie B side. That situation is likely to put Leeds United on alert after being linked with the player in the summer.

Ternana News have revealed Ternana may cut their losses when the transfer window opens in January rather than risk parting with the player for nothing.

Avenatti has been Ternana’s standout player this season, scoring eight goals in fifteen games. Understandably it’s become a top priority for the Italian side to get his contract sorted in the coming weeks.

However, earlier this month the 24-year-old confirmed he’s heard nothing about renewal talks, and wasn’t thinking about his contract extension.

Leeds United have been linked with Avenatti for the past 18 months. During the last window there were claims the Championship side had approached Ternana.

It was also reported Serie A sides were monitoring the player, giving him several options. Until Felipe Avenatti renews his contract with Ternana, speculation is unlikely to go away over him leaving the Umbrian side either in January or the summer.

Born in Montevideo, Felipe Avenatti is a 23 year old left footed striker. Leeds United would be able to offer the footballer higher wages than Ternana and a shot at the English big time.

Massimo Cellino would be well aware that if the Uruguayan signed and succeeded, there would be a big pay day when the time came to sell. There’s no worries over a work permit, because Avenatti also holds a Spanish passport.
