Celtic defender Kristoffer Ajer has told the Norwegian media it fells bitter losing to Bulgaria yesterday.

Bulgaria recorded a 1-0 victory over Norway in the opening game of the UEFA Nations League for Ajer and his national teammates.

Speaking after the game to NTB, the Celtic youngster was asked about yesterday’s loss in Sofia: “It feels bitter. We produced enough chances to score a few goals, but then we were not good enough in our own box when Bulgaria were presented with their opportunity.”

Since making his debut for his country earlier this season Ajer hasn’t been on the losing side and this was a new experience for the 20 year old, so it’s frustrating it came in their Nations League opener.

This is was also the central defender’s first taste of defeat this season with club and country, with Celtic yet to lose when Ajer has been playing.

Brendan Rodgers’ side have recorded four wins in the Scottish Premiership in this campaign with the Norway international involved in three of those games.

The only loss Celtic have recorded this season was the away trip to AEK Athens in the Champions League qualifiers, which Ajer wasn’t part of due to suspension.

Losing hurts, and it’s good for Celtic that Ajer has been reminded about that whilst on international duty, rather than at his club.
