Ezgjan Alioski is finally producing for the Macedonia team, and it’s probably got a lot to do with Marcelo Bielsa.
Leeds United’s players on international duty have been keen to speak about the impact the Argentine manager has had on them, largely down to fitness and approach to the game mentally.
Last week, Alioski made it clear he’s feeling in top condition, and he put that down to what’s happening at Elland Road: “It’s all thanks to the new coach of Leeds, the experienced Bielsa. He brought a lot of freshness into our team that was the same from last season, but I see a huge difference in the game, in the approach and in the output and in the results.
“Of course, such a coaching name also affects my game. I feel great and I believe that I will transfer the form to the national jersey for the match against Gibraltar.”
He did just that, scoring as Macedonia beat their Nations League rivals 2-0. Then came the harder match against Armenia, and exactly the same thing happened – Alioski scored and his country won the game 2-0.
Speaking afterwards, the Leeds United player made it clear he’s expecting big things in the future. Agenda quote Alioski as saying: “I am happy because of the goals, but they are personal achievements, and I am very pleased with the two victories we achieved at the start of the Nations League.
“Now we feel a huge confidence among us, and we believe that this generation can do something big. But there is no getting carried away, we will go step by step and we want to win all the matches in the group so that we can get the first place.”
Bielsa’s work at Leeds United is having benefits far and wide.
