Following Porto’s announcement of the matchday squad which is travelling to the Champions League clash against Chelsea, one missing name ’caused surprise’ in the local media.

As reported by Record, goalkeeper Diogo Costa has been diagnosed with Covid-19 and is ruled out of the match.

The outlet points out it had been a long time since the last infection in the squad, as João Mário tested positive on the 28th of January.

With 10 appearances this season, Costa had mostly been used in cup games. He had one match played in the Champions League, which was against Olympiacos in the group stage. His absence basically confirms that Agustín Marchesín should start against the Stamford Bridge side.

Besides Costa, Porto are also travelling without Sérgio Oliveira. The midfielder is suspended for the first clash against Chelsea, and also picked up an injury in a training session this morning.

The Dragons and the Blues are playing both matches in Seville due to Coronavirus restrictions in Portugal and in the United Kingdom.
