Marseille forward Michy Batshuayi is close to singing for Chelsea, after confirming his exit from the Ligue 1 club on social media platforms.
Chelsea have reportedly agreed a fee of €40m for the Belgian star, and a deal is expected to be announced soon.
However, it turns out Chelsea’s latest signing is a self-confessed Arsenal fan. Batshuayi, in an interview with RTBF(via Sky Sports) in 2014, admitted he likes Arsenal because they’ve a good philosophy and give youngsters a chance.
“My preferred destinations are England or Germany. If you ask my favourite team, I’ll say Arsenal.
“It is a club with a good philosophy, where youngsters get their chance. I’ve been an Arsenal fan since I was a kid,” Batshuayi told RTBF in 2014.
Chelsea fans need not worry too much about that, as the player has been quite impressive for Marseille. Batshuayi had 23 goals and 10 assists to his name last season, and was wanted by several top European clubs.
