On Thursday, German newspaper Bild went big with claims that Stoke City want to buy Christian Pulisic, and would be prepared to pay €20m to secure the 17 year old.

Bild explained there was a little hope for Stoke because the youngster doesn’t want his career to stall at Dortmund, behind the likes of Marco Reus, Mario Gotze, Andre Schurrle, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Shinji Kagawa.

Comments from the player’s father would undermine that, Mark Pulisic has been quoted as saying: “There is no interest from Christian to leave the club. Last season he had a good six months and will continue to prevail.”

That would create what appears an insurmountable problem for Stoke City. Borussia Dortmund don’t want to sell the youngster, knowing full well he could turn into an absolute superstar, and the player doesn’t want to leave the club.

There’s still the possibility of Pulisic going on loan somewhere in order to get minutes on the pitch, but that’s likely to be to a German club and wasn’t what Stoke City wanted anyway.
