As if the stories from the Argentine press hadn’t been enough to make a big noise on the future of Manchester United star Edinson Cavani, it’s now time for his father to fuel the rumour.
Luis Cavani spoke live to TyC Sports on Tuesday afternoon, and confirmed that his son has a serious plan to leave European football very soon.
The player’s father was asked if the possibility of a move to South America in the summer is real, given the Boca Juniors claims of recent weeks. He replied: “If I were to give you a percentage of him coming, I’d give you around 60%.”
Luis Cavani claimed the player “doesn’t feel comfortable where he is”, and has been thinking of moving closer to Uruguay “for a few years” to stay “closer to the family”.
That’s why he thinks he’ll end up playing for a club in South America.
Asked if he’d like to see his son at Boca Juniors or in Uruguay, Luis Cavani says he wants him at a place where he can fight for “something important”, and that’d be impossible at clubs from his home country.
Interestingly, the comments from Luis Cavani are very similar to what Argentine newspaper Ole reported the Manchester United player’s entourage as saying on Monday.
