The father of Crystal Palace forward Alexander Sorloth has jumped to the defence of his son following the difficulties he’s faced since signing for the Premier League club.

The Norway international joined Crystal Palace in the last January transfer window but has failed to make an impact since arriving at Selhurst Park.

Speaking to Dagbladet, Goran Sorloth was asked about his son’s troubles with the London side: “Alexander is good enough. At the same time, we must not forget that he is in the Premier League. You have come to the top shelf in terms of pressure and interest.

“We also have to remember that he is only 22 years old and has experienced incredible amounts in a short period of time.”

Sorloth has divided opinion among the Crystal Palace supporters after joining the club from Danish side FC Midtjylland just ten months ago.

The forward has failed to score in the Premier League and his only goal for Eagles came in the EFL Cup earlier in the season.

There were claims in the summer that Turkish champions Galatasaray were ready to offer Sorloth an escape route but a move to the Super Lig never materialised.

The forward is contracted to Crystal Palace until June 2022.
