Bruno Fernandes and Cristiano Ronaldo are among the Manchester United players who were allowed a late return from their holidays, since they’d been in action for their national teams.
Still in Portugal, the midfielder today had a word with the local media, and it turned out that most of the interview ended up being about the five-time Ballon D’Or winner.
With Cristiano Ronaldo recently linked to a move out of Old Trafford, many people in his home country started talking about his potential return to Sporting, and the local media made it clear it depended more on the player himself than in an effort from the Lions.
So quizzed about it, Bruno Fernandes claimed he knows nothing about this potential move, and claims he’s expecting his teammate to be at Manchester United with him soon.
“Now we’re both on vacation and nobody bothers their friends on vacation,” said Bruno Fernandes (via O Jogo).
“What I hope is that Cristiano will be there with me on Monday, that he’s one of those who will come back later because of the Seleção’s games and I’m not waiting for nothing more than that. As far as I know there is nothing more than that, but everyone knows their future. I don’t believe the club is willing to lose a value like Cristiano”.
Now despite practically ruling out the transfer for now, Bruno did his best as a former Sportinguista to say he’d like to see his Manchester United teammate playing for the Lions again in the future.
“I don’t know, but for Sporting fans it would be a great moment, almost everyone would like that to happen. But it depends on what Cristiano expects for his future. He has the ambition to continue playing for many years to come and we’ll see what he does will decide, I hope after the contract with United ends. I think it’s a dream for most Sporting fans to see Cristiano wearing a Sporting shirt playing in Alvalade”.
