Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has been quizzed by the Swedish media whether he would be interested in signing Ostersund forward Saman Ghoddos, following his comments about the player.
Ghoddos has been linked with a move to London after Queens Park Rangers’ attempt to sign the Iran international last summer.
Fotboll Dirket have reported on comments Wenger made to Swedish news agency TT, ahead of Arsenal’s clash with OFK: “A fantastic player, technically and tactically. I was impressed with Ghoddos.”
The Arsenal boss was then asked if he’d be interested signing the forward: “There is no transfer window now, give me some breathing space.”
Last summer we covered reports from Sweden that QPR were interested in signing Ghoddos, and did table an offer for the player.
However, OFK rejected QPR’s bid as they deemed it too low, but there was no improved offer from the West London club.
Since then Ghoddos’ value has increased (QPR offered just £1.9m), mainly due to his exploits in Europe, which has seen OFK reach the knock out stages of the Europa League.
However, it seems the Swedish side’s run in the competition is coming to an end after their 3-0 defeat to Arsenal last week. The second leg will be played at the Emirates tonight, giving Ghoddos another chance to put himself in the shop window.
