IFK Goteborg investor Nils Wiberg has told the Swedish media Pontus Dahlberg’s recent transfer to Watford is a ‘fantastic deal’ for the Allsvenskan club.
The 19 year old singed for the Premier League side on deadline day for a transfer record for a Swedish goalkeeper.
Speaking to Fotboll Direkt, Wiberg was asked about the future of the club, following the sale of Dahlberg to Watford: “Now we have a new coach, an exciting squad and an economically fantastic deal with Pontus Dahlberg.
“Now I would have liked to see him stay longer at IFK, but at the same time, it’s business Swedish clubs must do more of.”
Dahlberg signed for Watford for an undisclosed fee last week, but there have been suggestions in the Swedish press he was sold to the English side for just over £3m.
The Sweden international has been loaned back to IFK for the remainder of the season as part of the deal, and this will allow the Swedish side’s No.1 to get more playing experience.
Dahlberg is highly regarded in Sweden, and he’s expected to challenge for the Watford No.1 jersey next season.
