Richarlison is much loved in Brazil, with the nation seeing all the work he does for charity back home, putting his Tottenham Hotspur wages to good use.
The forward has a genuine social conscience and his past actions have sealed him a special place in many hearts. He’s also previously revealed he’s a Vasco da Gama fan, so fans of that club love him even more.
Vasco have just secured the signing of Philippe Coutinho from Aston Villa. He’s arrived at the Brazilian club on loan but there’s little prospect of his returning to Unai Emery’s side in any meaningful way.
He was officially shown off to his new adoring public on Friday, and O Dia quote him as saying: “I want to thank the Vasco da Gama institution, President Pedrinho, who made every effort. It’s an honour. I would like to thank all the professionals who organised this party, all the professionals who were very important in my life and taught me how to be Vasco. To my parents, who are here, to my children.”
That went down brilliantly, which can’t be said about all the messages after Neymar’s contribution was booed.
The Tottenham player’s efforts, and previous words, have encouraged Vasco fans to ‘dream’ that he could too return to them from Europe.
Richarlison returning may take a little longer than Coutinho, with the 27-year-old having a Spurs contract until June 2027.
