Newcastle manager Rafael Benitez may well be using his Spanish connections to help recruitment at the Championship club. Benitez’s side have reportedly found an agreement to sign Juan Jesús Nuñez Cumbrera, a Spanish youngster from Recreativo de Huelva.
Whilst he probably wouldn’t challenge Aleksandar Mitrovic or Dwight Gale this season, the Spaniard could be one for the future.
The transfer is being reported by Albiazules, a fan website which is very angry at the current board for letting talented youngsters go.
The third division side have already lost David Afonso to Barcelona and Adri to Cádiz CF this season. There’s a new management at the club trying to stop this exodus, but they couldn’t avoid Juanito from leaving.
Recreativo’s official website doesn’t have much information about first team players, so it’s even worse if you want to know something about an academy youngster. All we could find out is that the 17-year-old striker has been at the club for a while and has a decent goalscoring record.
Albiazules claims that the player will train with Newcastle United’s reserves until he can find a spot in the first team. Apparently, the transfer had no cost.
