Claims from England of Chelsea being interested in Samu Chukwueze have been picked up by Spain’s AS, and they reckon the Blues have an advantage over others in the chase.
AS explain that Manchester City, Liverpool and Arsenal have all been following the Villarreal attacker, yet Chelsea turning up is significant.
That’s because the 21 year old has been a ‘fan since childhood’ of the Stamford Bridge club, so would naturally be more drawn to them.
Chukwueze is seen as an alternative to Jadon Sancho for Chelsea. The pair tend to operate mainly on the right for their respective clubs, but can also play on the left or through the middle.
With BVB still looking at around €100m for the Englishman, Chukwueze would be a much cheaper option. However, his statistics for this season are nowhere near those of Sancho.
The Villarreal player has four goals and four assists so far this season, whereas Sancho has 17 goals and 20 assists.
