Queens Park Rangers were one of the clubs to show interest in Simon Elisor in the winter market, having been initially keen in the summe.

The English club eventually lost the battle to FC Famalicão as they were able to sign the striker on a permanent transfer.

Fast forward to April and Tuesday’s edition of O Jogo covers QPR’s failed efforts to secure the 25-year-old’s services.

Elisor spent the second half of last season on loan at Troyes and scored six goals and registered an assist from 16 games.

The Frenchman returned to his parent club, FC Metz last summer, and managed a goal and three assists from 11 games for them this season. The Ligue 2 club sold the frontman to Famalicão in January.

O Jogo claim the attacker’s loan spell at Troyes had convinced the Championship club to bet on him. They add Martí Cifuentes’ side were willing to make an investment to buy the player, without mentioning any figures.

‘Famalicão were quicker’, explains the Portuguese newspaper, and that’s why they were able to beat QPR. Elisor signed a contract until 2028 and has a goal from nine games so far.
