Scoring important goals throughout his time at Liverpool, Divock Origi has become a big fan favourite at Anfield, or should we say manager favourite?
Jürgen Klopp has been a huge advocate of the Belgian, talking him up after his feats, going as far as calling him a legend, and yet starts remain hard to come by for the forward.
Despite being at Liverpool full-time since 2015, Origi only has 34 starts in the Premier League, with the vast majority of his appearances coming off the bench.
That’s why it’s hard for some to fully accept the love that Klopp has for the player, as Alex Teklak for DH called out the German manager for his showmanship.
Talking about whether or not it would be best for the Liverpool player to find himself another club, the pundit was asked if he felt Klopp was ‘exaggerating’ when it came to his public praise.
He replied: “Klopp manages to entertain this ‘I need you’ notion [with Origi]. He makes him his mascot, a symbol, his favourite. Is he exaggerating? Yes, it’s fake, it’s really a big fake, because you feel he isn’t his priority. I’m not going to talk about opportunism, but still a little bit. He can’t say anything else, really. What else do you want him to say?”
