Hector Bellerin did ‘everything possible’ for Real Betis from Arsenal this summer, before his eventual move to Barcelona.
That’s according to Fichajes, who say the failure to do so was ‘the most painful’ of Betis’ failures in the window this summer.
Bellerin was linked with a move to his boyhood club throughout the window after spending last season on loan with them, winning the Copa del Rey.
He returned to Arsenal, but it was made clear he was not a part of their plans moving forwards and would be moved on if possible.
He eventually returned to Barcelona, with Arsenal allowing him to leave the Emirates as a free agent to get his wages off of the books a year early.
That was obviously a disappointing conclusion for Betis and Fichajes say of the three deals they failed to get done, that one was ‘the most painful’.
Bellerin had ‘forged a great relationship’ with both the club and the fans and even tried to do ‘everything possible’ to make a deal financially viable for Betis and their stricken finances.
However, even then they weren’t able to get anything over the line and he eventually ended up returning to Barcelona on a free transfer.
