Super-agent Pini Zahavi’s failure to secure Kinglsey Coman a move to Chelsea this summer has seen the Bayern Munich star part ways with his representative.
That’s according to Fussball Transfers, who say there was interest from the Blues and Manchester United in the Frenchman this summer.
The website explains that after taking Neymar to PSG, David Alaba to Real Madrid and a new deal for Robert Lewandowski at Bayern Munich, Coman appointed him himself.
He signed a ‘mandate’ with the agent for the summer of 2021, with neither Coman nor Bayern believing that the player will sign an extension beyond 2023.
Coman, therefore ‘sounded out the market’ and hired Zahavi to do it, giving him a mandate to offer the winger to English clubs.
The ‘cooperation’ was limited to 2021, and there would have only been an extension to that if Zahavi had landed an offer from a top club.
However, that was not the case, with Zahavi only managing to ‘gather a few expressions’ of interest from Chelsea and Manchester United.
Neither of these turned into serious bids, it seems, with Zahavi not managing to convince either to make their move for the Frenchman.
Thus, he has been ditched, and it remains to be seen what happens with Coman as his deal enters its final year come the summer.
His contract expectations stand in the way of a renewal at Bayern, and so a sale next summer is the ‘most plausible’ scenario at this point.
Zahavi will not be involved in any of those negotiations, but it remains to be seen if Chelsea and Manchester United will.
